Q: What is a "Haunting"? A: To visit habitually or appear to frequently as a spirit or ghost
We think that places, objects and possibly even people can have a haunting. A haunting is a frequent visiting or appearance by a sprit or ghost. There are several types of hauntings and here are the most common types:
Intelligent Haunting
Though this may not be the most common type of ghost haunting it is usually what the majority of people imagine when they think of types of ghosts. These types of hauntings are of ghosts that where at one time human beings. They are intelligent and can interact with their surroundings. It is believed that these ghosts will try to manifest themselves and be seen by the living whenever possible.
You may have an intelligent haunt if you get footsteps, moving items, voices, slamming doors etc.
This is the most common types of ghosts. Some refer to these as psychic recordings. Mostly related to tragic events, this in when enough energy is produced it is literally burnt into an area or object. When this happens this event will replay itself, as if in an infinite loop when the right conditions presents itself to trigger it. No one even has to be present for this to happen.
You may have a residual haunt if there is a repeating event and there is no interaction from the spirit. For example a ghost walking into the room and out the wall that used to be a door.
The poltergeist types of ghosts are known for making load noises or banging. Typically this is one of the scariest types of haunting. This would be real similar to an intelligent haunting but with a poltergeist it is usually centered on one person. This could be especially true if teenage girls are around. There has been a possible connection between the heightened emotional state of these females and telekinesis or psychokinetic abilities. The ghosts in these haunting seem very angry and it is possible that there is more than one intelligent ghost pulling their energy together to try and get your attention because of that anger.
You may have a poltergeist haunt if you see the same signs as an intelligent haunt but only when a certain person is present. Counseling with that person or finding out what is upsetting the spirits usually will bring an end to the haunting.
Q: What is the diffrence between a Ghost and a Spirit?
No one can say with scientific certinty what a ghost really is. The general explination of a Ghost is a disembodied spirit, usually as a vague evanescent form. When we talk about a ghost, we refer to a mist, fog, or visible vapor type apparition. Ghosts may not be intelligent and apear at will and typically do not interact with people. Likewise they may not be visable but felt and / or measured as energy changes.
A Spirit is a supernatural, incorporeal being having a particular character. A spirit typically is an intellegent entity. In some instances it could be connected to a particular person or animal or place. They have been know to interact with people and may display good or bad traits.
Q: What is an EVP?
EVP stands for Electronic Voice Phenomena. EVP's are voices or sounds caught on recordings. EVP's are not heard when the recording was being made, but are found after the fact. Voices heard during recoding are considered "disembodied voices". EVP's are thought to be electrical impulses and this explains them not being heard. The coils used in microhones pick up the signal, possibly even as magnetic activity. This has been proven by evp's being captured with the mic in total vaccume Class A are heard and understood on their own. Class B are understood with slight manipulation via increasing volume and / or speeding or slowing the recording. Class C are not understood even with help.
History of EVP's
One of the world's most respected scientists, Thomas Alva Edison, believed that it would one day be possible to build a machine that would help humans communicate with the dead. He once said:

Q. What are Shadow Ghost's?
Believed to be an entity that unlike a spirit, or clasic ghost, appears as a dark area, shadow like, sometimes referred to as a phantom, usually seen as human in form and shape, or shadow. Witnesses often remport this as having seen "movement in the corner of your eye". Shadow ghosts are very fast moving for the most part. You can see a "possible" shadow ghost on our photo page. Q. What are Orbs?
Ok, here is the claim... Orbs are some sphere of energy. They are sometimes believed to be soul forms, energy of spirits trying to materialize, sometimes caught on film or video.
* My personal opinion (and that of many others) is that 96 percent (maybe more) of orb photos seen are external contaminates such as DUST, BUGS, a loose hair or other airborn particulate. Another 3 percent are explained by LENS FLAIR, Internal lens reflections, Iris shadowing, moisture or other occurance in the lens or other artifact. That leaves 1 percent that may be considered a photographic anomoly that could be paranormal activity. I keep an open mind however, honestly, I am getting tired of so many orb photos attempting to be linked to the paranormal. Educate yourself on this and you will see what I mean. I would be glad to point you to some professional white papers and web sites that explain in detail the mutlitude of reasons you see orbs in your photos. Q. Why are so many investigations done at night?
I like this one- and it has multiple possible answers- here they are
1. Theory exsists that it takes energy for a spirit to make them selves seen. It takes a large amount for a small visual occurance. Hence some ideas of EMF and other anomoly. So, if you were only able to make a "small amount of light" (even though the visual occurance is not "lit up" than it stands to reason that it would be easier to see at night... a small candle is apears brighter at night.
2. The ionoshphere reflections and less solar interfearance. Take your pick on one or both, but it is well known that radio waves travel much farther at night. The sun has much less distruption when we are on the far side and this is also causes less disruption on the geo magnetic fields. These are all documented effects. How they might play upon hauntings and paranormal activity are unkown, but why not take them into consideration?
3. The people effect 1: We as investigators have day jobs to help pay the bills and this leaves night time open to play.
4. The people effect 2: Less outside noise and distractions. Sound travels further at night and the air is still. There are less noises and people making them.
5. The people effect 3: People are home and quiet and this may be why they see things / hear things in a haunting and we want to replicate the conditions they report to us in our best attempt to get a result.
6. Moisture: There is theory that the mositure in the air is used, much like the EMF theories, and that between midnight and 3 am is when moisture is heavy in the air and available to a spirit to use.
My take it that it is a combination of all of the above. Think also that the day time temps are dropping off and those changes can cause houses to pop and grown as things contract in the cooling night. Heaters turn on and the expanding duct work can make noises. The dark presents the possiblity of the unknown and unseen and people get spooked easier. It all works together and we need to be there to record and see it so we can report these things for what they are... natural occurances or paranormal activity. Give us a call!
I will say that I have seen and experianced things in mid day, so this is not a hard and fast rule in investigations.
