FULL SPECTRUM CAMERA UPGRADE AND INFO

 FULL SPECTRUM CAMERAS:

I (Keith Engel) am currently selling a wide spectrum camera that is affordable to most teams- GSIT uses them, but they dont make them.  It is a private work of KEC / Keith Engel Cameras.  I am doing this with the hopes of forwarding my own research into the paranormal and wide spectrum anomolies.  I have already captured seveal items of interest (see paranormal light anomaly and chelsea haunting videos elsewhere on this site).  As I am using this equipment with the GSIT investigative team, I present this information here, however GIST does not own or sell any equipment.  This is a personal enterprise and other than being used by, is seperate from GSIT.

If you are looking for a higher end camera than the one currently being sold, please contact me!  I can build them much higher- up to 600 TVL and with even wider capability.  This of course comes at a higher cost.  I would be glad to discuss this with you!  I have been contacted and am producing cameras and lights used in several network paranormal TV shows.

A bit of information:

I have been building and selling wide spectrum cameras for some time.  Why?  Because I feel (as well as many others in the field do) that the next real step forward will be in a diffrent frequency within the spatial area that still allows us to see some anomalies.  Take germs for example: Our eyes just dont have the ability as, say, a microscope to see germs. With the aid of a microscope we can see them.  Just because we cant see them dont mean they are not there.  The paranormal world has been chasing theories and attempting to tie EMF fields with paranormal events.  Indeed there has been some progress in this and I am also involved in collecting that data.  I would submit that the real phenomona occurs with in the intermodal relationship of both the visual, and electromagnetic fields- which are all part of the electromagnetic spectrum.  I cannot stress enough that the BEST evidence to come is not just a single photo or even a single video but the interlaced combination of VISUAL, ELECTROMAGNETIC MAGNETIC recordings.  The Synesthesia effect that the brain may experience when exposed to magnetic fields and the corosponding visual perceptions that may result is currently being studdied by myself and others.

SO- as you go about investigating and hopefully doing real research into the paranormal, I submit that the best chance of collecting a visual record will be by having a recording device that will record in the widest spectrum available.  The camera's I build are capable of seeing light well outside our visual ability and transmitting that into a picture that we can.  Do you need to own such equipment to go ghost hunting?  NO.  However, if you want to really research, document and explore the paranormal fields, some equipment is going to be needed.  We need to Qualify and Quantify what we are getting.

If you wish to conduct experiments such as those we are currently doing, you will want to have the ability to select the wave length that you are recording in.  To which I have the following mod that you can do yourself, or, if your not up to the task, I will do for you.    NOTE NOTE NOTE:  For the Mod as explained here you will need the computar brand lens for your camera.  I am currently selling my cameras equipped with a Honeywell Lens.  The reason is that the Honeywell Lens has a larger objective and more light gathering for those that really dont care about this upgrade.  If you purchased one of my cameras with a Honeywell on it, you will need to buy a computar to use this set of instructions! Contact me for the right lens for this upgrade.  You an you alone are responsible for the upgrade and any damaged caused by a failed attempt.  Be warned.

Lets begin:

This is a great upgrade for my full spectrum camera. If you purchased one, you might like to do this to yours.   Why would you want to?  So you can then pick and choose what you get-  you can FILTER each band selective: one or all.

How to do it:

Purchase a Sunpack filter kit "PlatinumPlus" cat no. DF-8000-UVKITBB   I picked this up on ebay for around $4.00 delievered.    This gives you a 25mm to 27mm adapter ring and a 27mm UV filter.    The step up ring needs to be modified:

Machine off most but not all of the 25mm threaded portion of the ADAPTER ring (NOT the UV filter one).  This ring is soft aluminum and easy to modify.  You need to take off most of the 25mm portion, but leave a small amount.  The left over will be used to center or "locate" the adapter ring centered in your camera lens.  This is a close up of two of these same adapters side by side.

The one on the left has been shaved down, the on the right is new.  As you can see you need to get rid of the threading and leave just a very small sholder.  If you dont machine enough of this down, you will loose some focus distance.  Put the ring on and focus in and out and you will see that it will touch the bottom of the new ring.  You want to have just a small amount of shoulder so you dont loose focus.  This will make sense when you are dry fitting it.    When you have it machined down, your ready to mount it.

Clean the modified ring well and make sure it is dry.   Use a cement to glue this to the front of the camera lens.  Here is what it will look like when you have it on:

I used Duco cement.  You could do this with black silicone as well.  Turn the focus ring to drop the lens all the way down before you glue this and dont get glue on ANYTHING else or you could ruin the lens..  Be careful not to use so much that excess squishes out into the inside of the lens. Let it dry overnight. If your very competent you can remove the three tiny screws on the very top of the lens where this will mount.  You can see one of them above all the way to the right near the notch.  Then remove the compete top and make this additon more safely when it comes to glue.  Drop the lens all the way down (focus ring to infinty) and keep it there when the top is off.

That is it!  Now, order some 27mm  filters!  I use 720nm and 860nm IR filters.   720 is best for inside use with IR lights, and 800 plus is best for outdoor bright sun.  I also picked up a set that has CPL and FLD filters- cheap.  The FLD is used under florescent lights to correct the color ( Ironiclly, if you did not know it- a floresent tube light puts out almost all UV light which then activates the white coating on the inside to convert it to visible spectrum) and the CPL is a polarized filter to cut glare and reflections.  I leave the UV filter on all the time until I am ready to use the camrea so as to protect the cemara lens.  With this combonation of filters you can now use your camera outside and under all types of lights as with any camera as well as being ONLY IR... here is what an ONLY IR photo looks like:   These are my images using this camera!

                                                               Winter in my neighborhood

 Or this:

Chat piles in Pitcher Ok.  A modern "Ghost Town".   A complete town abandoned and the remains of the mines (HUGE) chat piles that come right up to the edge of back yards.  In IR / UV it looks like a moon scape.  Notice the weird dust blowing off the piles.  That was ONLY visible with this camera.  A great example of how this camera see's things that others will not.

Of course, you can use this for total darkenss photography but I think you will find this a fun and interesting way to look at the world.  It's not just for paranormal use.  I often take UV or IR pics right along with regular photos.

Then get creative!!    Here is an UV / IR photo with color swap post process:

This is again from Pitcher Ok.  An abandonded church.  This photo has post processing.

Or this:

An IR photo of an old abandonded  truck.  I love that kind of thing...

So- go have some fun!  Catch some paranormal activity and along the way get some great images!

NOW:  Lets make it portable!

This is kind of bulky and it is teathered via the power cable (not shown) but it does allow you the ability to hand hold the camera while using the camcorder LCD panel to monitor.  It is also the recording device.  If we are using our DVR system and other cameras' this set up allows me to use this special camera away from the DVR.   Here you also see a Sony IR "extender" mounted.

This was done using the mounting arm that comes with this IR extender and a second 1/4x20 mouning knob I picked up from Ace Hardware.  This set up allows me to still use the Sony Camcorder OR the Wide spectrum camera.  A flip of my thumb changes it over from VCR (to record from the wide spectrum) or "camera" being the Sony.   Here is another shot from the back.

You can see the video cable on the back.  This requires an RCA to BNC adapter as well.  Pick one up at Radio Shack.   This view shows the new knob which is larger than the one suplied with the Sony mount.

With the video cable off and the LCD closed, you can see that the mounting arm must be angled forward a bit in order to clear the larger LCD when open.   WELL that should do it!  I hope you enjoy your wide spectrum camera as much as I do.  Dont be limited to only DVR use.  I even take mine in the car and use a inverter to power it!

If you attempt modifications, they are your responsibility.  If your not capable, or are uncomfortable modding the lens, dont do it.

ALSO, if you think that you would like a higher res camera, first be sure that you are recording data that is compairable to the ability of that camera.  It makes no sense to use a higher def camera and record in low quality and frame rates.  That is like putting racing tires on a grocery getter grandma car.  It just dont compute!
